Ricardo Leite is a director and cinematographer. He organizes and participates in several exhibitions in the field of cinema since 1999, having participated in events in Europe, Morocco, Brazil and Cape Verde. He has collaborated and worked with institutions such as the Oporto Cineclub, the Amazonas Douro Cineclub and the Association of Cultural and Artistic Initiatives in Oporto (AICART). Having worked mostly in the experimental genre and on film, he is the original creator of an innovative technique entitled “The Alchemy of Cinema”.

He is one of the founding partners of the project Átomo47, the only independent film laboratory in the country, inaugurated in 2007, where he currently works and collaborates with Casa da Imagem in V.N. de Gaia. Átomo47 is part of an international list of 40 independent laboratories (

Steve Cossman is a filmmaker, founder and director of Mono no Aware, a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, NY, whose mission is to create a community of filmmakers, artists and amateurs with a passion for film and its possibilities. With over fifteen years of experience, over sixty workshops held and over a thousand international artists involved, they promote education by teaching courses in traditional filmmaking practices from Super 8mm, 16mm and 35mm.

It is an organisation with international recognition, the films produced in its workshops have been shown in dozens of international film festivals, and are recognised for their work and dedication by the NYTimes, BBC World, ViceTv, among others.


Catarina de Sousa is a filmmaker, journalist and producer of cinema and visual arts. In 2021, she founded with Pedro Neves Marques, the film and visual arts production company, Foi Bonita a Festa, based in Porto, Portugal. She is founder of Casa do Xisto, an artistic residence dedicated to Cinema and Visual Arts, in the village of Macieira de Rates, in Barcelos, Portugal.

In Cinema, she co-directed “Tracing Utopia” (2021) with Nick Tyson at UnionDocs, with an international premiere at the Rotterdam International Film Festival. She is the author of the documentary “Truth or Consequence” (2017) about the Post-Truth era for RTP. She has produced between Portugal and Brazil films: “Becoming Male in the Middle Ages” (2022), “The Bite” (2019), “Art and Hurt”(2018), “Exterminator Seed” (2017), directed by Pedro Neves Marques; “Vale das Dúvidas” (in post-production) by Francisca Manuel; “Laureano Barros, Rigorous Refuge” (2017) by Paulo Pinto for RTP. She is associate producer of “Ecstasy” (2020) by Moara Passoni and “Olmo and the Seagull” (2015) by Petra Costa and Lea Glob.

In Contemporary Art, she produced the Film Installations: “Vampires in Space” by Pedro Neves Marques, the Portugal’s Official Representation at the 59th edition of the Venice Biennale 2022. “The Bite is Back” (2019) by Pedro Neves Marques curated by the Pérez Art Museum in Miami. “Zoomorphic Eye/Camera Trap” (2018) by Mariana Silva, curated by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. “Catherine or 1786” (2017) by Francisca Manuel, curated by Walk and Talk in partnership with ARQUIPÉLAGO – Contemporary Arts Center, Azores.

As a Journalist she worked for LUSA News Agency, Rádio Clube Português, Barcelona Televisió, and is a collaborator of Mídia Ninja – Independent Narratives, Journalism and Action – from Brazil. Master in Communication Sciences – Information and Journalism from the University of Minho, with training in Documentary Workshops of the Ateliers Varan, France. She was a resident artist at UnionDocs – Center for Documentary Art, in New York, with a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
